An Overview Of The HP LaserJet 2200 Toner
By bryansonners
When considering the HP LaserJet 2200 printer and HP 2200 ink and toner,
keep in mind that one will be getting a workhorse laser printer meant
to be used mainly as a computer-to-printer unit for the most part. It
features excellent print speed and good print quality at a price (new,
around $130) that will be hard to beat for those small office or home
office entrepreneurs on a budget.
Printer speeds delivered by this monochrome laser printer are one of
the 2200's selling points. It can deliver a very nice 8 pages per
minute of copy and at a price that most other competitor printers would
be hard-pressed to match. Additionally, these same printers have a
tough time getting within a couple of pages per minute of this HP
printer, which should also be attractive to most anybody considering
purchasing it.
Print quality offered by the HP LaserJet toner
is excellent it must be said. At 1,200 dots per inch, it will deliver a
high-quality print product that will be excellent across most
assessment benchmarks. Blurriness or smearing will be absent and all
text will look rich and deep. Also as well, it handles the typical
graphics-intensive print job when it needs to.
Physically, this HP printer is sure to please with its svelte looks.
It's only 16 inches wide by about 10 inches high and will occupy a
place on a desktop with little real trouble. It's also fairly low in
weight, matching up nicely against most of the peer group within which
the HP 2200 finds itself. In fact, it's a bit of shock that the printer
isn't larger given all of the print quality it delivers along with
acceptable print speed.
When it comes to supplied memory, this HP unit comes with 8 MB of it,
though that can be upgraded to 72 MB if needs dictate. Processing power
is shared with the computer to which it's connected. It all is kept
tightly controlled and moving around by means of a 133 MHz
microprocessor, which is sufficient to keep most print tasks organized
and moving through the print queue with little trouble.
The LaserJet 2200 is also fairly versatile in terms of how it can be
connected to a computer or even to a very small workgroup. It comes
with both USB and parallel port connection capabilities right out of
the box. It will not, however, come with a USB cable, so be prepared to
shell out several additional dollars for a good quality cable to run
between the printer and the computer.
This offering from Hewlett-Packard can hold a full 250 sheets within an
included autoloading input tray out of a total of 350 sheets (the other
hundred can be fed in through a separate manual feeder slot). It can
also print on a number of different media stock, giving it an
additional level of versatility that matches up with the versatility
already evidenced by its connectivity and print quality.
The HP LaserJet 2200 printer is a fairly durable office machine as
printers go. With a monthly duty cycle of about 40,000 pages before
requiring any maintenance, most users can expect quite a bit of
printing before needing that maintenance activity. It runs on most
Windows and Mac OS 7.5.5 and later operating systems. It lists for a
$120 retail price and it comes with good print speed capability. In
all, it's a fairly attractive printer and one that will meet the needs
of the small office.
The HP 2200 replacement toners, an ongoing consumable for this machine, can be obtained any place HP LaserJet toner cartridge is sold. However, surprisingly inexpensive toners and cartridges can be found online with just a few mouse clicks.
